First, you need to choose how much you want to wager by clicking on the chip representing the amount you want to bet. Then, choose if you are going to play a single, double, or triple hand. You do so by clicking on the beautifully drawn card outlines on the mat.
Once you have done this, you will click on ‘Deal’. The dealer will then deal two cards to each hand. The cards represent their own values, i.e. 1=1, 10=10, J/Q/K=10. If you’re new to blackjack, note the Ace can act with a value of 10 or one.
As your hand is dealt, you will have the option to ‘Stand’, which means you do not want any more cards dealt to that hand . Or, you can choose to ‘Hit’, which means you’re going to be dealt another card and its value will be added to your existing two. You can continue to ‘Hit’ until you’re comfortable and happy with your value. You can also choose to ‘Double Down’ which means you double your betted amount, but the next card dealt to you will be the last one dealt to you, so strategizing is important.
Lastly, you may be offered to take insurance on your hand if the dealer is dealt an Ace as their first card. This is to help you mitigate any losses if the dealer has blackjack from the first deal. Most experienced blackjack players will advise not to bother with insurance as it is usually more expensive than any loss.
