The quarter-final stages might have been lacking in quality but were dramatic nonetheless. Sure, we were all hoping for 4-4 thrillers, but that simply isn't major international football.
France and England have been playing, shall we say, pragmatic football? I will let you decide if you prefer to use some words that are a little stronger.
On the other hand, The Netherlands and especially Spain have been more pleasing on the eye and have attacked to great effect. However, what has come before often has no bearing on what will come next. The question is, who are you backing to go all the way?
Spain vs France (Munich 21:00)
Spain’s journey to the semi-final was a dramatic one, highlighted by their nail-biting encounter against Germany. In one of the closest games of the tournament, Spain secured a thrilling 2-1 victory in extra time. The match took a worrying turn early on when they lost one of their key players, Pedri, to an injury in the eighth minute.
Netherlands vs England (Dortmund 21:00)
The Dutch were full of expectations going into the quarter-final stages. Their opponents, Turkey, were having a fine campaign, but with the greatest respect in the world, there have been much more challenging quarter-final draws. The first half saw the Turks dominate the chances and deservedly were 1-0 up at the halfway stage. With twenty minutes remaining, it looked like it could be dream over, but that wasn't the case as they secured victory with two quick goals showing the attacking threat they have possed all tournament.
