Welcome to Shay Says, the latest football betting blog from LeoVegas’ Irish ambassador, Shay Given.
This week, the Republic of Ireland and Premier League legend previews three more big fixtures from the Premier League.
Let’s see what Shay Says!
I’m getting more and more confident with Manchester City’s treble chances, but every game remains very important.
The team hit a high point by beating Arsenal in midweek, but they have to go and back that up now against a good Fulham side who are having a brilliant season.
City went to the Emirates earlier in the season and won, only to be held by Nottingham Forest in the next game and drop two massive points, so they need to be focused for this fixture.
I fancy them to get three points here, but it could be tighter than people think because Fulham are a very good team.
I’m going with 2-1 to City, with the big man Erling Haaland to get on the scoresheet anytime.
SHAY SAYS: FULHAM 1-2 MANCHESTER CITY
A top four finish isn’t yet secured for Newcastle, and I’m sure that will be the message from Eddie Howe to his players.
They picked up a brilliant victory over Everton and are on a real high at the minute – they’re scoring goals playing with confidence, it’s a great place to be currently.
They’ve got an unbelievable chance of making the top four with so few fixtures left in the season, but every game is so important.
Southampton went up to the Emirates last Friday and got a score draw which just proves there’s no easy fixtures at all in the Premier League.
They’ll be fighting for their lives after a string of poor results and still have the quality to hurt teams on their day.
I however fancy Newcastle to get the job done here – I’m going with 3-0, with Joelinton as an anytime goalscorer.
SHAY SAYS: NEWCASTLE 3-0 SOUTHAMPTON
It was a bit farcical for Tottenham to sack Antonio Conte and keep his assistant, Cristian Stellini, in charge. They would have had the same systems and same ideas as each other, so I certainly found it a bit strange.
It’s going to take a miracle for them to get into the top four now, I can’t see the likes of Newcastle giving them too many opportunities to close the gap.
I really fancy Liverpool to win here – they have experienced a few false dawns this season, but I think they’re going to have too much for Spurs.
I know Ryan Mason got a good draw the other night against Manchester United and it was a good second half, but Liverpool will be incentivised by the chance to leapfrog them in the table.
I’m going with 3-1 to Liverpool with Cody Gakpo getting amongst the goals – he seems to be playing with some confidence at the minute.
SHAY SAYS: LIVERPOOL 3-1 TOTTENHAM
